A Historic Moment on the Zaanse Schans
Saturday, January 25th, something truly special happened.
As the grand finale of our project “Ode aan Nederland” at the Zaans Museum, twelve Dutch communities proudly took to the open-air runway in their stunning traditional dress. Against the backdrop of historic windmills, it was a breathtaking celebration of Dutch heritage and identity.
But this day was about more than just celebration—it was about giving back.
Through the Jimmy Nelson Foundation, we were honoured to donate a collection of artworks to the communities who brought Between the Sea and the Sky to life. These images now belong to them—a lasting tribute to their traditions, their stories, their pride.
Over 50,000 visitors experienced this exhibition—an incredible achievement! All proceeds from ticket sales remained with the museums, ensuring they can continue their vital work in preserving heritage.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible—this moment will stay with us forever. And a special thank you for the museums; Het warenhuis Axel, Museum Dokkum, Muzee Scheveningen & Zaans Museum!
